STORY 1

Ajo tregon me gisht derën e saj.

English Translation

The Morning Coffee

Arben lives in Tirana. His apartment is on the fifth floor. It is small, but it has a beautiful balcony. Every morning, Arben wakes up early. He makes a strong coffee. He sits on the balcony and drinks his coffee. He likes to watch the city. He sees the cars on the street and the people going to work. This is his favorite routine.

One day, his routine changes. He sees something new. A woman is on the balcony across from him. She has long hair and a floral dress. She also has a cup of coffee. She looks at Arben and smiles. Arben feels surprised and a little shy.

He raises his hand and greets her. The woman also greets him with a big smile. This happens every day for a week. They drink coffee at the same time, on their balconies. They don't talk, because the balconies are far apart. They just look at each other and smile.

Arben really wants to talk to her. He wants to know her name. He thinks of a plan. He gets a piece of paper and a pen. He writes: "Hello! I'm Arben. Would you like to have a coffee together?" He thinks he can throw the letter onto her balcony.

But his plan doesn't go well. He isn't good at throwing. He folds the paper and tries to throw it. The letter flies through the air and falls down onto the street. Arben feels silly. He thinks he has lost his chance. He goes inside, upset.

The next morning, he goes out onto the balcony without much hope. But the woman is there. She is holding a letter in her hand. It's his letter! She shows it to him and laughs.

Arben doesn't understand a thing. How did she get the letter? He is very surprised. He gestures with his hands to ask her.

The woman laughs again. She points to her door. Then she points to Arben's door. Her door is across from his door. She is his new neighbor. She found the letter near the entrance to the apartment building when she returned home; apparently, the wind had carried it there. They live on the same floor and didn't know it.
